Winning Back Donors
As seen in Business Times, Singapore
Publication Date: July 24, 2006
Following an issue with charitable giving in Singapore, various business leaders were asked to comment on future charitable contributions. Among those was Burson-Marsteller's Christine Jones. She said, “Singaporeans are generally strong supporters of charities with high per capita donations compared to other developed countries. Their reaction to the recent scandal is natural and while it will probably be transient, it indicates that all charities, however well regarded, cannot take the generosity of their constituents for granted.
Perhaps this is also the time to plan for greater emphasis on corporate rather than individual philanthropy to support fund raising efforts, as many companies are now seeking to make CSR an integral part of business operations, and charities could benefit considerably.”
